Djbouti:
Djbouti is a tiny country in East Africa. For income, it relies mainly on its free port on the Red Sea, which is a modern container facility. The railroad from the city to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia then takes the shipped-in goods into the interior. Tourists usually just pass through Djbouti on their way somewhere else. Shopping in the port is good. Ethnic tensions between the Afrs and Issas tribes have escalated into civil war, and Somali refugees have swelled the population. People who live outside of the city are mostly nomadic. In the city, which has a large contingent of prostitutes to serve the sailors, AIDS has become a big problem.
