Czech Republic:

Prague, the well-preserved old capital city of the Czech Republic, has become a mecca for trendy backpackers, young American entrepreneurs, artsy tourists, and societal dropouts who want to live in a colourful, atmospheric city. The Czech Republic is also a mainstream tourist destination, and the millions of dollars of cash that tourism has brought into the country has helped it become a mainstream European country, not a struggling eastern European backwater. So the living standard in the Czech Republic is now comparable to that of other European countries. There's a new entrepreneurial class, and almost all Czechs have shares in privatized businesses.

Other tourist attractions in the country include ski and spa towns, along with hiking and backpacking.

Also, in September 1999, the government legalized prostitution, creating one more reason to go to the Czech Republic....

In February, 2000, female politicians announced they would be forming a "shadow government" to bring attention to the absolute lack of any women in the cabinet.
