Burundi:
Burundi is famous as the other country besides Rwanda where Hutus and Tutsis slaughter each other. The situation is very unstable at present, and Western governments warn their citizens not to travel to Burundi. More than 120,000 people in Burundi--mostly the minority Hutu-have been killed in the ethnic wars. Compounding this problem is the fact that Burundi has one of the highest birth rates in Africa, and it's a small country. The remaining forest is consequently almost gone. Interestingly, 78 per cent of Burundians are Roman Catholic; so much for "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"..
Unless you're interested in the anthropology of a country in which everyone is killing each other, there's no real reason to go to Burundi.
