Bahamas:

Located in the Western Atlantic off the Florida coast, the Bahamas consists of 700 islands and 2,400 cays, of which 30 are inhabited. Bahamas is a major tourist destination, with its beaches and casinos. Cruise ships full of gamblers from Florida go there daily. You can get lost in the Bahamas if you enjoy sailing from uninhabited island to island. The water is amazingly clear and beautiful, and there's a lot of scuba and snorkelling activity for exploring the reefs.

The people of the Bahamas are well educated, family oriented and relatively prosperous, and that is reflected in the costs; this is not a cheap place to go for a vacation. But there are a number of all-inclusive resorts where you don't have to spend a cent after you've paid your fees up front back home.

You can now go by hydrofoil from Palm Beach, Florida, directly to Grand Bahama Island. These enclosed boats can go 80 km. per hour, and hold 250 passengers. The cost is about $140 round trip.
