Antigua:

Comprising two small islands in the Caribbean, Antigua and Barbuda, this country is peaceful, fairly prosperous, and scenic.

The living standard is high, with a 90 per cent literacy rate, good health care, low unemployment, hardly any racial tensions, and multiparty democracy.

Cruise ships visit Antigua, and the beach on Barbuda is reputed to be "magnificent." You can go snorkelling and diving off Cades Reef on the southern part of Antigua island, and sailing is big in these parts, too.

Antiuga is known to be a fantastic place for birdwatching. In fact, the Frigate Bird Sanctuary on Barbuda, accessible only by boat, is the largest bird sanctuary in the Caribbean. More than 170 species of birds live there. Long Island and Great Bird Island are other amazing places to go birdwatching.

Man-made attractions include the 18th century Nelson's Dockyard and the city of St. John's.
